Portraits

In the spring of 1998 I retreated to a studio in Northern Spain owned by a friend of mine (I helped build it) to paint 50 portraits, all measuring 50 x 50 cm, of various figures, most known to me, or to the world at large. I wanted to learn how to paint a portrait, still one of the most difficult things to do, apart from hands.
